Have You Got The Latest Update Of WordPress (3.1)?

I have just updated to the latest WordPress Version (3.1) and discovered a great new feature.

Version 3.1While logged in and viewing your blog (or any blog that you have subscribed to that is updated to 3.1) you will see a menu bar at the top of the page.

This allows you to get easy access to the dashboard and depending on your level of access to the dashboard you will be able to do some frequently done tasks.

As an admin you will be able to:

  • In your Username
    • Edit Your Profile
    • Access the dashboard
    • Log Out
  • Add
    • New Post
    • New Page
  • Comments
    • Manage Comments
  • Appearance
    • Widgets
    • Menus
  • Updates
    • Access any updates
    •

IMPORTANT: Before updating to the latest version of WordPress BACK UP YOUR BLOG.

When you have done the update, you could also update any of the widgets that have updates ready. Your dashboard or the new top menu bar will let you know when there is a new update ready.

The process for updating a plugin is:

  1. Open the list of plugins to see which have an update ready.
  2. Click the upgrade automatically link.
  3. Sit back and wait. It won’t take long.
  4. When the plugin is reactivated, move on to the next one.

Take advantage of the latest in WordPress blogging. Update to the latest version for the latest in functionality.

Click the link for a more detailed description of the benefits of WordPress 3.1 . These include some changes to the Post editing box, which I just discovered by adding the link!

I have been using 3.1 from day 2 of its release. It’s so cool. And yes, I made a back up before updating. WordPress really rocks!

Well done Anne. I am still discovering the differences, and I like them.

I wouldn’t know any difference. I have just had my blog about a week and then the new 3.1 version came about. Anyway, one good thing I can think of is about the security issue that sort of rocked the earlier version which they claimed they have fixed in this one.
